Forestiera neomexicana--New Mexico Privet has berries that have been used in traditional fabric dyeing. Gray is the most typical color produced by New Mexico Privet (also known as ironwood and wild privet). This plant can survive cold winters where the average annual low is -20° F. Full sun to partial shade is best for growing this species. It usually does best in dry soils. |
