Liatris pycnostachya--Thickspike Gayfeather grows 2-4 ft. tall with stalks densely distributed purple flowers.  This Liatris prefers moist clay soils that are slightly alkaline.  It prefers part sun to full sun.  As with other Liatris it makes a good cut flower.
