| Growing Tips | Penstemon whippleanus differs from other penstemons with its dark maroon-purple flowers. It likes heat and well-drained soil. This plant prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Penstemon whippleanus reaches a height of 2 ft. and a diameter of 1 ft. Also unlike most penstemon species, Penstemon whippleanus blooms in late summer. Though very drought tolerant it performs better if watered once a week. | |||||
