Desert Mallow is the most drought tolerant of the Spaeralceas. it is perennial and can grow in wide range of soils and prefers full sun. All the stems originate from single long taproot and can be very numerous. The overall appearance of the plant is vase-like. It can reach a height of 3ft, and diameter of 2-3ft.. The leaves: gray-green, pubescent, and deeply lobed. Flowers are small cup-shaped and orange to red in color. This plant is native to the southwest US; officially to elevation of 3500ft, but known to naturalize up to 5000ft or more. |
